Gumroad Fees in 2026: What You Actually Pay

Gumroad's fee help says sales made on Gumroad's website are charged 10% + $0.50 before separate credit card processing or PayPal fees. For sellers bringing their own traffic, that means the real direct sale cost is higher than the headline platform fee.

The fixed $0.50 matters most on lower priced products. A $10 direct sale feels very different from a $100 direct sale once the fixed fee and card processing are stacked on top of each other.

Gumroad says the 30% rate applies when new customers find and buy through its discover marketplace. That is a different fee path from profile and direct sales.

Gumroad's fee help also says the 30% marketplace fee includes all processing fees. So if you are looking at Gumroad because of marketplace reach, you are not buying the same thing as a seller who already has their own audience.

For that reason, direct sale math and Discover math should be judged separately. A seller with their own traffic is usually comparing the 10% + $0.50 route plus processing, not the 30% marketplace route.

Gumroad says it supports direct bank deposits in local currency for most countries and uses PayPal where bank payouts are not available. It also says the standard minimum payout threshold is $100 USD, with higher local minimums in some countries.

If bank payouts are not supported in your country, Gumroad says it uses PayPal instead. Its payout help says those PayPal payouts are sent in USD, usually arrive within 1-3 business days, and carry a 2% processing fee.

Sellers can choose daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly payouts. Gumroad also says payouts include sales made through the previous Friday, UTC, and that every sale has a minimum 7 day holding period before it becomes eligible for payout.

The faster options are limited. Gumroad says daily payouts are only for eligible US sellers with qualifying bank accounts and at least four prior payouts. It also says instant payouts are US only and carry a 3% fee.

On Latuos, the payment lands in the seller's connected Stripe account and payout timing is then managed through Stripe rather than a marketplace balance.

Gumroad says it now acts as the Merchant of Record for all sales and automatically handles sales tax collection and remittance worldwide. Its pricing page also says creators do not need to manage VAT, GST, or other international tax requirements, and Gumroad says creator tax settings are automatically disabled because Gumroad handles that collection itself. That tax layer is part of what the fee is paying for.

Gumroad also says creators can sell digital products, e-books, courses, tutorials, memberships, and certain service products. Its service-product help says accounts that are at least 30 days old can offer calls, commissions, and tip-style products.

It also applies product restrictions that do not show up in the headline fee. Gumroad's prohibited-products page bars categories such as illegal products or services, securities and crypto products, credit repair, and sexually explicit content. Its adult-content help also says non-explicit NSFW work must be tagged and is only shown to customers who opt in to adult content.

Fee structure matters, but it is only part of the decision once refunds, disputes, and payout ownership are considered.
